         9 COUNTING PREVIOUS INTERNSHIP AS A MANDATORY INTERNSHIP

In the Yıldız Technical University (YTU) INTERNSHIP DIRECTIVE, which was accepted by the Senate decision dated 23.05.2023/05-05,  "Students who have worked in a job related to the program they are studying in or are currently working, provided that they meet the relevant provisions of Article 8 of this directive, can use their working hours as follows: By applying to the relevant department by documenting their duties and titles, they may be exempt from the compulsory internship course included in the teaching plans with the approval of the Department Internship Commission, the recommendation of the department head and the decision of the faculty board of directors.”

Students who meet the following conditions can benefit from this exemption;

  • The place where the student works must be related to the program he is studying.

  • If the student is currently working,  the relevant provisions of Article 8 of the INTERNSHIP DIRECTIVE must be met.

  • The student must not be insured by Yıldız Technical University during the applied study dates .

  • Only one (1) internship (Workshop or Professional Field 1 or Professional Field 2) can be counted for the applied dates.

  • Considering the adjustment period limitation of 7 years within the scope of Article 7(11) of the YTU Equivalence and Adjustment Procedures Directive , a working period up to a maximum of 7 years before the application petition date can be taken into consideration.

  • The workplace must be included in the list of internship places defined for Professional Field Internship 2 and must be suitable for the internship to be counted. If the workplace is not available in the defined internship places or if an exemption application is to be made for internships that do not have a defined internship place list (Workshop or Professional Field Internship 1), the Internship Place Introduction Form must be filled out and sent to the relevant Internship Commission, and this workplace must be approved by the Internship Commission. As a result, if it is seen that the workplace is not suitable for the internship, the internship location will not be approved and the activity at the place of employment will not be counted as a compulsory internship.

Students who meet these conditions can apply for internship exemption by following the steps below;

  • FR-1107-Course Substitution Petition must be filled out for the internship for which the student wishes to be exempt.

  • Documents showing the student's working period, duty and title in the job related to the program he/she is studying (SSI Registration and Service Statement / Workplace Title List to be obtained from e-government, approved letter to be received from the company, etc.) must be prepared.

  • For the internship work carried out, the student asked: " How to submit an internship notebook via e-mail?" Internship book and documents must be prepared for the internship for which exemption is desired, by following the items stated under the heading ".

  • Applications must be made by sending all the documents mentioned above to the e-mail address of the relevant internship commission.
